Realistic 3D GPS Markers for Clearer Vehicle Identification
ALTAGAMA GPS introduces high-quality realistic 3D markers to make vehicles easier to distinguish on a GPS tracking map, with more detailed models and smoother visual rotation. The catalog is organized into categories and supports searches by vehicle type or model name, helping fleet coordinators find a suitable icon without browsing the entire collection.
A marker is the icon representing a device's location in ALTAGAMA GPS. A recognizable appearance helps distinguish trucks, cars, motorcycles and equipment within the same operation. This update improves that visual identification and the way users explore models, alongside improvements to the continuity of WhatsApp support.
Realistic 3D vehicle markers for a clearer fleet map
The Customize marker window now includes the Realistic tab alongside Popular, 3D, Top view, Side view and Symbols. The new models provide a more detailed three-dimensional appearance and multiple perspectives as the vehicle rotates.
You can associate each tracker with a visual representation of its vehicle or asset. For example, a business operating both delivery vehicles and trucks can choose distinct silhouettes to recognize the type of unit before opening its details. The marker complements the device name; it does not require replacing the name or changing the tracker's identification.
Smoother visual heading changes
Realistic models include more viewpoints around the vehicle, allowing finer visual transitions as its heading changes. We also improved the continuity of rotating previews when browsing and selecting markers, making it easier to compare front, side and rear views before choosing a model.
This is a vehicle visualization improvement. It does not change GPS accuracy, position reporting frequency or the location data sent by the device. The orientation shown on the map still depends on the heading information available.
Find markers by vehicle category or model name
The catalog displays groups such as Cars, Motorcycles, Trucks, Buses and Construction Vehicles. Search is available across the different tabs and considers both the icon name and its category. Groups with no matching icons no longer take up space in the results.
Enter Trucks to compare options in that category, or a name such as Kenworth to find specific models. Hover over a thumbnail to check its name and, for rotating models, see it turn. Search keeps the results in order while you type, helping you compare options without losing track of an icon you have already found.
For someone setting up several units, the benefit is straightforward: find the vehicle type first, then choose the most recognizable representation. You do not need to know every model name in the catalog.

How to change a device's map marker
- Open the Map and locate a device you can edit in the side list.
- Click the icon next to its name to open Customize marker.
- Select Realistic and browse the categories. Use Search icon… to filter by category or model name.
- On a computer, hover over a thumbnail to inspect its rotation. Select the model you want to use and check the result in the preview.
- Review the marker shape and optional text if you use them. Click OK to apply the selection and return to the map.
You can also open the selector from the Marker field when editing a device under Devices. The marker customization guide explains the related configuration options.
The demo account lets you explore the workflow shown in the video; its changes reset when the page reloads. In your own account, use a user with permission to edit the device.
Combine realistic models with marker shapes and labels
The new catalog works with existing customization options: choose a shape around the vehicle, adjust its colors and add a short label. Keep just the vehicle for a simple presentation, or use a shape and text to make a specific unit easier to recognize.
Realistic models retain the colors of their images. The Icon color option does not repaint a realistic vehicle's body; when a marker shape is used, it adjusts the shape's background. Text color changes the label's appearance. This lets you preserve the vehicle's look while adding your own visual identification without confusing the two functions.
Practical uses in delivery, transport and construction
- Mixed-vehicle delivery fleets: a coordinator can distinguish motorcycles, cars and trucks by their markers, then check the location and data of the unit that needs attention.
- Transport operations: a supervisor can choose recognizable truck models and short labels to distinguish units with similar names while reviewing the map.
- Construction sites and mobile equipment: a business can use the Construction Vehicles category to represent machinery differently from service vehicles, making the overall map easier to read.
These are examples of visual organization. Information such as speed, battery level or sensor readings depends on the device and what it reports to ALTAGAMA GPS. Choosing a vehicle image does not add sensors or change the equipment's capabilities.
From recognizing a marker to tracking a device
For new users, the ALTAGAMA GPS map brings together positions received from GPS trackers or phones. The device list helps you locate a unit and open its information, while route history lets you review where it traveled over a selected period.
Realistic markers help with the first step: recognizing the unit you are looking at. Device data and route history then provide context for reviewing a delivery, checking a journey or handling an operational question. See the GPS tracking map guide to learn about these tools.
Better continuity when contacting support on WhatsApp
We also improved the handoff from automated WhatsApp assistance to a support advisor. Recent exchanges and the options selected during the conversation are better preserved as assistance continues, giving the advisor more context about what the customer has already explained.
For example, if you request help setting up a tracker after answering the assistant's questions, the advisor can continue with the recent information available. This reduces the need to repeat the same details. We also corrected cases where closing an earlier conversation could interfere with a new support session.
This improvement applies to the WhatsApp support channel. It does not require changing tracker settings and is not presented as a permanent archive of all conversations.
Summary for administrators and integrators
- Marker selector: the new Realistic option, vehicle-type groups, searches by name or category, and more continuous rotating previews.
- Map display: new models represent heading with more detailed viewpoints. This is a visual improvement, not a change to GPS measurements.
- Configuration: selecting another marker changes the device's appearance in ALTAGAMA GPS without sending commands or reconfiguring its connection. Other icon families remain available.
- Integrations: these updates introduce no changes to public API contracts and require no migration for connected systems.
